Go Home!

For those of us who are more ‘social’, this has been a time of great discomfort. We love human interaction and crave the intimacy of those one-on-one gatherings. They feed our soul, and our mind. While we refrain from these human interactions, we are blessed to have technology that can keep us connected and sooth our social wounds.

We have seen many funny social media posts and heard stories of etiquette faux pauxs but the truth is; We now have a new ‘normal’ for meetings and checking in on family or friends. Do we have a choice? Are we allowing a temporary inconvenience to foster a slide into permanent social distancing? Or will this pandemic strengthen us and remind us of how precious our relationships are?

Things remain pretty constant in Real Estate; Homes are being Listed and Sold at a rapid pace but the way we do business has become much more remote. We are much more aware of our clients’ safety, and our own, as well. Showings may be virtual and we ask all the pertinent questions before scheduling any Showings.

Home Inspections, HVAC, Septic and other Inspections continue and we are so thankful that these family owned businesses are out there supporting us as they provide a much-needed service in the Real Estate community. The Attorneys’ offices have restricted access to the Closing table in an effort to protect the employees and clients. The Register of Deeds is (for now) remaining open and we do have the ability to E-Record in many counties so that is a Godsend for families looking to buy/sell a home.

The bigger question for us is: How will this affect the housing market in our area? Builders may see delays in the supply chain for their building products, as much of it comes from China…as much as 30%, according to this article in Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/bradhunter/2020/03/24/coronavirus-impacts-on-real-estate–why-you-need-to-think-short-term-and-longer-term/#3bd3a4235f6f

The Rental sector may be impacted in Greenville (specifically) because people have ‘lost’ their jobs, schools/colleges have issued a ‘Do Not Return’, and we already have a huge swell in new rental construction. How this pandemic affects any of us remains to be seen.

I can tell you that we continue to look for ways to help our community, our clients, and will remain here for you. We will keep working to get you in your new home or to get your home Sold.

Keep your sense of humor and positive attitude on the front burner. Keep saying prayers of healing for the sick, prayers of protection for our Doctors and Nurses and First Responders who are on the front lines, and prayers for the families who have been kept apart.

We shall get through this!! Blessings.

P.S. Who has stock in Kimberly-Clark?? I’ll bet you’re laughing all the way to the bank.
