Who’s Story Are You In?

Everyone is wrapped up in the current pandemic, watching or reading the news, posting social media content, and we have found ourselves (at times) doing the same. It’s easy to fall down the rabbit-hole!

The situation lends itself to a perfect opportunity for self-development and growth because we do have a bit more time at our computers. Now, if you’re a Mom or Dad with school aged children…my sympathies. I’m sure you have all you can do to find matching flip-flops and brush your hair! I have been able to do research, watch or listen to podcasts and webinars or interact through Zoom Meetings. Keeping up with work has been a challenge because Real Estate has not slowed down, which is a blessing, and also made me more aware of the areas I need to improve.

Being Self-Employed, working from a home-based office, and having familial responsibilities makes time management vital and yet virtually impossible, at times. We cannot become so rigid and schedule-bound that we lose sight of the things that we will look back on and cherish most. I will never get back those opportunities to hug, hold, and love on my grandchildren so those moments take priority. Sitting at my desk, researching properties, and focusing on being the best resource possible for a client goes to __ll in a hand-basket when my 1 year old granddaughter toddles in and wants ‘up’. Those are the memories I will hold forever, not the price per square foot in Ironwood subdivision.

Have you ever thought about whose life you are impacting? Whose life are you changing? How are the people in your life going to remember this time? I often think about who I can help, even if it’s in the smallest of ways. People tend to think in terms or organizations or charities and I often feel inadequate in that arena, but I know that I am impacting the people in my circle. If someone reaches out with a question, or just wants to ‘vent’, I joyfully give myself to that person because it may be the one moment that turns their bad day into a good day. I volunteer my heart and mind to that person for that moment when they need me…and then I say a prayer for them.

Show yourself some grace and forgiveness during these days and remember that you are human. Practice kindness and patient coexistence with your family and never lose sight of the big picture. We will all come out of this with a fresh perspective, hopefully, and realize that we changed/adapted to our circumstances and have rewritten history!

Be Blessed as you have been a blessing to me.
